Creativity from meaning in life

• How do you define “spirituality”?
I think it is important to realize that “spirituality” is defined by the individual, meaning there are infinite definitions. My definition of “spirituality” is how one finds meaning in their life. The mundane, the trivial, the materialistic, and the everyday numb people or dazzle people with the spectacle. For me, spirituality is seeing beyond the unimportant temporary trappings of happiness and finding the deep meaning in life experiences. I would also call it a feeling of meaning, not just an intellectual description and identification of meaning. Being spiritual is being self-aware because it is having a feeling of rightness or that things fit and conversely how things feel off or out of equilibrium. To know when I need time for myself to think things through is a moment of self-awareness and self-respect, and it is also a time for recognizing the good in my life. If I dwell on the bad, which is always insignificant in the big picture of life, I feel worse, clouded, and numb. Seeing beyond that fog and realizing the good reverses the loss of equilibrium.
• Does spirituality differ from religion?
Spirituality is individual in many ways, and it is practiced on an individual folk level which is not always sanctioned or about doctrine like a religion is. Religion is one way of finding meaning, and there are guiding posts along the way to find meaning in and relate to one’s own life. Religion is a sanctioned and canonized, there are experts, and there are rules. The difference between spirituality and religion may be the last idea. Rules are dictated by an external force in religion, and rules are made and broken by internal exercise within spirituality. The costs are more tangible with religion if one strays, and the costs are deeper and less describable with spirituality if one betrays themselves.
• How do you define “creativity”?
Well there is a physical creativity which manifests as a material product. But there are also other forms of creativity which manifest in intellectual and spiritual ways. I think “creativity” is an outlet of spiritual expression, an outlet of finding beauty and meaning in life experiences. I can see “creativity” as an adjective descriptor of sorts concerning the products a person makes. Perhaps art is an adverb or adjective to a feeling or a thought or a product. The expression of a feeling does not manifest as a noun, but rather it is the process and ritual of making or creating art that makes “creativity” have meaning.
• What is the source of creativity?
The source of creativity so often is when people find meaning. Sometimes, I imagine that I have a muse who comes to inspire me in moments of need. Whether that be a homework assignment or a finding a job, I call on my own luck or talisman for power and energy to be creative. Although I am only partially serious when I do this, it is also a good way for me to get myself excited to channel creativity. I think a lot of creativity can be created by outside forces, but I think it is just as possible to have internal forces of personal growth, desire, and expression which bring forth creativity. The source could be divine, religious, or incidental, but it depends on the individual.
